Ren Capucao, BSN, RN

Ren Capucao is a registered nurse and PhD candidate based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He studies nursing, digital humanities, and American studies at the University of Virginia, where he is affiliated with the Bjoring Center for Nursing Historical Inquiry. His research utilizes historical, digital, ethnographic, and literary methods to examine the formation of the able-bodied Filipino nurse in relation to impaired livability. Ren translates his research toward public history to engage broader audiences and advocate for health and racial equity on behalf of the nursing and Asian & Asian American communities, having previous collaborations with Virginia Humanities and Vox.
