Riza V. Mauricio, PhD, APRN, FCCM,CCRN, CPNP-AC


Dr. Mauricio is an APN Intensivist in Pediatric Critical Care and Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health and Science Center. She is the former Director of Advanced Practice Providers and Assistant Professor at UT Mc Govern Medical School. She is a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine (FCCM). She is engaged in professional organizations such as AACN, SCCM, NAPNAP, and PNAA. She is past Board of Director of AACN. She co-led the development of the 2020 ICU Choosing Wisely, evidence-based recommendations for appropriate and necessary care. Currently, the Chair of SCCM Quality and Safety Committee, Chair of PNAA Advanced Practice Committee, and Chair of Heal our Nurses” Kabalikat” Emotional Wellness Program, promoting emotional wellness among our Filipino-American nurses She represents PNAA to the Texas Healthcare Coalitionadvancing the independent practice of APNs, the US coalition of Nurses Improving the Health of Women and Children, and the All In Wellbeing First for Healthcare initiative. She is the Advisor of PNAMetro Houston (PNAMH) and a member of PNAMHFoundation Board of Trustees. Her research interest is in the quality of life of people with chronic diseases. Her publications are related to the quality of life and the burdens of chronic diseases. She has pending grant protocols on chronic disease management of Filipino-Americans and the emotional wellness of Filipino nurses. She has presented in local, national, and international conferences. She is an educator, a mentor of nurses, advanced practice providers, doctoral students, and junior faculty.
